When I first had the idea to do this blog, I immediately thought of north&eight. Located in Essendon and just a two minute drive from my work, this light-filled cafe has become a bit of a pre-Uni exam tradition. With fresh, colourful ingredients and loads of gluten free options, north&eight produces the food I love.

north&eight have recently updated their menu, keeping some favourites and adding drool-worthy new items - cue the lemon meringue french toast. With a kids menu as well, it's a great place to take the little ones. I highly recommend the poached chicken salad and the salt 'n' pepper fried calamari & green papaya slaw salad.

But one of the best things about north&eight is their array of take-away options. The pork belly and slaw baguette, wild rice, kale and quinoa salad, and chia pudding are just some of the choices. My favourite pick is the super filling granola, yoghurt and berry cup - I usually have to eat it in two sittings.

If you're after a decadent treat, there are plenty of donuts, brownies and muffins as well. The flourless chocolate brownie is to die for!

Super popular on the weekends, be prepared to wait for a table - but it is honestly so worth it.

Happy eating!

Allie
