Some days a large coffee is sufficient. Some days I don't even feel like coffee. But some days, you need a coffee the size of your head. So when I find a cafe with jumbo take-away cups, I feel like they get me as a person.
After a string of late nights, and being the granny I am, today was one of those days. I stopped off at Ten One Ate in Essendon after work, expecting just to get a large, but when I saw those jumbo cups I knew it was necessary. The soy mocha I got was the perfect balance of coffee and sweetness and the vibe of the cafe is honestly the best. I've driven past Ten One Ate 3+ times a week since they opened in February this year. What used to be the Brickmakers Arms restaurant is now a fantastic breakfast and lunch spot. Super close to the studio, it's been on my list of places to visit for ages. The menu instantly had me excited - they strive to use organic and sustainable, free range ingredients. It always feels good to be eating amazing food that is ethically produced and heroes local and Australian businesses.
This week I took my little sister to Ten One Ate as part of our sister day. From the get-go, the staff were so friendly and so great with kids - something that is a huge tick in my book. My sister ordered the Cookie Dough 'Crazy Shake' and the look on her face when it arrived to the table was priceless! I'm very glad we spent an hour jumping at Bounce in Essendon Fields before lunch or that could have ended badly. I went for the Club Tropicana smoothie.
For lunch, I got the buttermilk pancakes with mascarpone, limoncello curd, toasted pistachios and fairy floss. It definitely could have fed two people. My sister ordered the kids buttermilk pancakes with maple syrup, ice cream and strawberries. She rated them very highly. We've definitely found another favourite place for our sister dates.

Ten One Ate also has a display case full of cakes and treats, which all look amazing. But I'm having a Greek banquet for dinner tonight, so sacrifices had to be made! I've got my eye on the New York baked cheesecake for the next time I stop by.
